  • What will the New Year bring? An analysis of independent forecasts published to date predict house prices will rise 1.8% over 2020, and rental prices by 1.7%.
  • A 1.8% rise in house prices would add just over £4,000 (£4,193) to the current sales price of a property in the UK.
  • Sales price predictions are in the main caveated on the UK leaving the EU, and an incremental rise in interest rates to 1.0%. Regional price growth is forecast to outpace the London market over 2020.
  • Rental price growth looks to be slowly gathering pace, current growth across the UK 1.4%, rising to 1.7% in 2020 and 2.5% in 2021.
