Bournville developments reopen as Brum’s property market gets moving

Clarion Housing, the largest housing association in the country, has announced the re-opening of its two South-West Birmingham developments, after doors closed to prospective buyers in March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The Oaks in Selly Oak and Woodbrook House at Bournville Park offer buyers a mix of semi-detached homes and apartments in and around the beautiful village of Bournville, with prices from £160,000.

Clarion Housing will be implementing appointment-only socially distanced tours of show homes and marketing suites on both sites from the start of August, giving prospective buyers the chance to explore the surroundings and see all that the developments have to offer.

It is hoped that the reopening will be a boost for buyers and the wider housing sector in Birmingham, presenting an ideal opportunity for tenants to escape ‘Generation Rent’.

The option of shared ownership on the homes at The Oaks and Woodbrook House provides an opportunity for buyers to take their first step onto the housing ladder. It allows people to buy a share of the home – as much as they can afford – starting from as little as 25 per cent and rising up to 75 per cent of the property’s value.

The deposit required for a shared ownership mortgage is often much lower than outright purchases, starting from as little as five per cent of the share value.

These semi-rural developments offer a range of homes to suit first-time buyers hoping to get onto the property ladder, commuters into central Birmingham and downsizers drawn to the nearby amenities. The homes are available to purchase from £40,000 based on a 25% share of a £160,000 full purchase price.

The new measures put in place for reopening will give future homeowners the opportunity to safely explore the range of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes available to reserve now.

Julian Cotton, Regional Sales Director at Clarion Housing, comments: “We’ve carefully designed the developments to complement the heritage of the area and the existing environment, with a big focus on open green spaces to strengthen their semi-rural feel.

“People will now be able to see for themselves the relaxed setting in and around the sought-after village of Bournville, while only being minutes away from the city centre.

“The team has worked hard to make our developments as safe as possible now that some of the lockdown restrictions have eased, and with the introduction of our guided tours, we can’t wait to play a part in opening up Birmingham’s housing market again. We’re excited to offer prospective buyers a unique opportunity to visualise and familiarise themselves with their new home ahead of completion.

“It will enable potential homeowners to explore layouts, formats and interiors for the first time in months, whilst getting a feel for the contemporary living spaces.”
